Just transitions, open letter and invisible stuff
It takes lots of actions to build an economy for public good
In the current election flurry, we feel the Open Letter of WeAll is speaking for all of us, our members, our enterprises, our communities. Please sign it here before 31 August. Flaxroots is a signatory alongside a good bunch of others. Now let’s all put our names to it, forward it, spread it to your network.
There once was an enabler hub called Startup Taranaki. Now there’s DOSO. If you know someone in the Taranaki region that wants to Do Something, pass this info on. So much support, so much community, so much goodness.
And their Startup Weekend is around the corner, fun, pace, connection, support.
When we’re working away in our regions and communities and life is busy we sometimes (or often?) miss the good work that’s going on across Aotearoa. Especially when one believes the News, who would have us buy into not enough good stuff is going on in the world, but au contraire! In our network calls we share what we work on or what we hear our enterprises or communities are working on. One of these amazing things is East Coast Exchange. The Dashboard is a mindboggling list of unfunded requests, coming directly from the communities affected.
ECX holds a public record of all sorts of contributions and investment and allows people to earn Contribution Points and exchange them for funding.
Now we LOVE making the sheer volume of work being done visible. Imagine this all across the motu.
David Hanna from Wesley Community Action was called on as expert on A guide to just transitions | He puka arataki whakawhitinga tika (mbie.govt.nz). Te Hiko: Centre for Community Innovation being part of the case studies to show facilitation in action.
Another wonderful resource making the invisible visible. This aligns with our work and now it’s time to take action for whole systems change and more specific guidance to bring together lived experiences and support already happening. We love that the guide has a strong focus on locally led change.
Until next time, ngā mihi nui
