We are very grateful to receive another grant by J R McKenzie to continue the coordination of the Social Enterprise Enablers Network. It’s wonderful to see that what we do is aligned with the trusts vision of a “socially just and inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand”.
We know this vision aligns with many other organisations across the motu. That’s why we are continuing to build momentum to partner with co-funders, impact investors and government to grow capability building in the regions.
To do that we want to hear from enablers, but also from the impact driven enterprises with no enabler hubs nearby. The partnership proposals will include the creation of new hubs, by citizens in their regions. To organise the knowledge and passion of impact and business filter into the communities, creating change from the roots up.

The United Nations signed a declaration to pursue “Promoting the social and solidarity economy for sustainable development”. Aotearoa often has confusion around the terminology due to no legal structure for Social Enterprises. The declaration mentions the term Social Enterprise. We can get inspired by our own Te Ao Māori terminology using “kaupapa-driven”. But it’s good to keep the conversation going, that Social Enterprise is a recognised thing in other parts of the world.
